Project Overview

Backstory

Steve Snower, a ten-year veteran of Newark Electronics and a former global leader in electronic component distribution, joined Parts Town in 2004. 

 

They started out with five employees and a three million dollar annual revenue; today, they have over 3500 employees and a revenue of over 1.5 billion dollars. Since 2015, Parts Town has acquired 23 companies, making it the largest distributor of parts for foodservice equipment in the world.

 

Parts Town sells OEM products all over the world on their own website and mobile app. As a larger company with clients all over the world, they were dealing with a problem that was seriously affecting their business.

The need for Parts Town

 We quickly realized that without an interface that collected data and sent it to the front end, customers were unable to have a satisfactory search experience. To grow in the super competitive market, Parts Town required some automation changes. They actually needed an SAP Hybris solution.

 

Parts Town was facing four major issues.

  • The loading of the data frequently ended in failure, resulting in reduced customer retention. 
  • The unsuccessful requests were not alerted.
  • Loading issues were prompted by API failures between the front end and backend. 
  • They couldn’t trace the reason for the frequent data blockages.

The Challenge

A profitable and practical solution could not be found in the first step, which was to either use their open source or configure a server from scratch and thus an alternative approach was required.

  • Parts Town approached NeoITO for a SAP Hybris development team to create a solution that would offer customers a seamless experience.
  • Configuring a server from ground-up proved to be difficult, so the team decided to use their cloud server. 
  • Finally, we chose to connect to their cloud servers for two reasons—easy deployment and cost savings.

The Result

Our team decided to use Elasticsearch and acquired access to their cloud service in order to configure and connect their front and backend to ensure a  smooth customer experience. 

 

  • Instead of using open source and building a solution from scratch, our experts chose to use their cloud service. 
  • We were able to get Parts Town to save more money while also shortening the time it took to find a solution. 
  • The APIs are effectively tracked and the information about customer request status is routed to the admin console.
  • Elasticsearch considerably improved the loading time, greatly enhanced the customer experience, and significantly decreased data fetching errors.
  • NeoITO was able to deliver the solution successfully in just seven months.
